carl wilson

development lead

Code whisperer, chief head scratcher, generous lover, built for comfort.

There are numerous ways to describe Carl or 'Curly' as he's know in the office (from the curly c in his name, not his perm). Don't let that put you off, he's much more capable than he looks (or sounds, or acts..)

Carl applied to join Prototype in 2013, but at the time he was new to the industry, largely self taught, and although had been dabbling with the web for 6-7 years in his spare time he lacked industry experience.

He went away and spent 2 and a half years as a 'Freelance Full Stack Developer' reinforcing his knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript and PHP as well as gaining the industry experience he needed before joining us in November of 2015.

Carl initially joined us as a 'Developer', working tirelessly to ensure the amazing websites we design are more than just good looking static pages, creating the bespoke features/functionality required for your design/industry.

Over his time at Prototype Carl repeatedly proved why he's been such a good hire and he was the obvious choice when the role of 'Development Lead' became available in October of 2018, and he now heads up our development team.

Outside of work his passions mainly revolve around inline (roller) hockey as he's the Secretary of 'Diamondback Inline Hockey Club' and his son has represented the UK for the 2001 age group at a 'State Wars' tournament held in the United States.

He also works on personal development projects and would like to get more involved in contributing to open source projects.
